SUPPORT FOR carers & COMPANIONS at pcit
Ensuring your wellbeing as a carer is managed and supported
We recognise that a Parkinson’s disease diagnosis affects families rather than only individuals.
At PCIT we provide dedicated support for the carers and companions of Parkinson’s disease. We undertake a well-being and quality of life assessment that gives you the opportunity to tell your story, and to highlight your own needs and wants. Our team will then advise you on steps that you can take to better support yourself and the person for who you are caring, and sign-post you to relevant activities here at the Centre.

Support groups for those who care for Parkinson’s
PCIT hosts a monthly carer group at our Centre here in Kent. This offers a chance for carers to exchange stories and to understand and support one another’s journeys.
The meetings offer fantastic opportunities to speak about the obstacles that you face and hear from others about how they can be tackled.
Group classes to meet people who understand your journey as a carer or companion
Get involved in our group activities either with or without your partner or take the opportunity to use the Kent University gym or other fitness facilities.

AT PCIT
You will find not only world-class care but also a compassionate community that celebrates and supports your progress. Together, let’s move forward with a healthcare experience that recognises the whole person, honours your individuality, and redefines what living with Parkinson’s can be.
“This is the first time in 3 years I have been able to exercise and been given the opportunity to move. It is such a good feeling. Both Clare and Sarah are lovely”

Mark Mardell – Writer and broadcaster
“I feel both proud and privileged to be the Patron of this centre. It is a brilliant idea, and like many a brilliant idea it seems simple and obvious –but only in retrospect, once someone has had the thought and pushed it with determination. All kudos to Prof David Wilkinson.“
